What are Vascular Conditions
Vascular conditions, comprising Spider Veins, Campbell-De-Morgan spots, Rosacea and Telangiectasias, are distinctive skin irregularities. Spider Veins: Intricate networks of red or blue veins, resembling spider webs, typically found on the face and legs. Campbell-De-Morgan Spots: Bright red or cherry angiomas that appear on the skin, varying in size.Telangiectasias: Small, dilated blood vessels causing red or blue patterns, often seen on the face. Rosacea: A common skin condition that causes redness and bumps on your face, most often on your nose, cheeks and forehead.
While these vascular conditions are common, they can noticeably affect the appearance of the skin and understandably have an impact on people’s confidence. Our specialised approach ensures targeted solutions, helping you to gain clearer and healthier-looking skin.
How can we treat Vascular Conditions?
The science behind the magic...
Our multipurpose NDYAG laser is commonly used to treat dilated blood vessels in your skin such as Spider Veins, Campbell-De-Morgan spots or Telangiectasias. In some cases, we use the NDYAG laser to treat benign (non-cancer) blood vessel growths like Hemangiomas. The procedure is relatively quick and pain-free with minimal downtime. Most areas need more than one treatment.
Although our laser will work for most blood vessel marks on your skin, in some cases, it may be necessary to perform a test patch on the vascular mark first. This will help us determine the optimum settings for each treatment and to assess the early skin reaction.

FAQ's
At the end of the treatment, most people describe a feeling like sunburn, with minimal discomfort. At this stage, you may find minimal change in the appearance of the actual vascular mark being treated, but over the next 24-hrs, this area may become swollen (like a nettle rash) with a surrounding area of redness.
If you have had laser treatment to veins on the legs, these will take longer to fade and brown discolouration may take anything up to a year to fade.
Most lesions will require more than one treatment session 4-weeks apart. The number of sessions required depends on the thickness of the blood vessels and your goals.
Large areas (larger than a single thigh) will always to be done in stages.
Complete clearance of all blood vessel marks cannot be guaranteed. If the lesion is associated with an overlying skin irregularity, this can effect the laser beam.
- Discomfort When a pulse is triggered, it may cause some discomfort. Some describe this as stinging, whilst others liken it to a rubber band snap. You may have a burning sensation for up to an hour after treatment.
- Damage to Natural Skin Texture. You may develop a crust or blister in the treated area, which can take 5-10 days to heal.
- Change of Pigmentation. – You may notice a change of pigmentation in the treated area. Most cases of hypo- or hyper-pigmentation occur in people with darker skin types, or when the treated area has been exposed to sunlight before or after the treatment. In some patients, hyper-pigmentation occurs despite protection from the sun. This discoloration usually fades in three to six months, but in rare cases, the change of pigment may last longer or be permanent.
- Scarring There is a very small chance of scarring, such as enlarged hypertrophic scars. In very rare cases, abnormal, large, raised keloid scars may appear. To reduce the chance of scarring, it is important that you carefully follow all post-treatment instructions. We exclude patients that have a genetic tendency for scarring.
- Excessive Swelling Immediately after treatment, the skin may swell temporarily. This happens especially on the nose or eye zone and normally subsides within 2-7 days.
- Fragile Skin The skin at or near the treatment site may become fragile. If this happens, avoid using makeup and do not rub the area, as this might tear the skin.
- Bruising Very rarely, a blue-purple bruise (purpura) may appear on the treated area. It may last from 5-15 days. As the bruise fades, there may be rust-brown discolouration of this skin, which fades in 1-3 months.
- Burns There is a small chance of burns occurring on the skin.
- Hair loss in the treated area can occur.
- Long-term changes in skin texture and colour
