Laser Treatment for Rosacea

Effective Treatment Solutions for Rosacea

What is Rosacea?

Understanding the problem

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes redness, visible blood vessels and inflammation, most commonly on the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. It can also lead to flare-ups of bumps, irritation, and heightened skin sensitivity, often triggered by factors like stress, weather changes, spicy foods, and alcohol.

While rosacea can affect anyone, it is most common in fair-skinned individuals and tends to worsen over time if left untreated. In severe, long-term cases, particularly on the nose, rosacea can lead to Rhinophyma, a thickening of the skin that causes a bulbous appearance. Treating rosacea early is the best way to prevent progression and long-term skin changes.

How can we treat Rosacea?

The Science Behind Acne Breakouts

At our clinic, we treat rosacea using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy, a clinically proven treatment that helps reduce redness, shrink visible blood vessels, and calm inflammation.

IPL works by delivering precise pulses of light into the skin, targeting the tiny blood vessels beneath the surface that cause rosacea’s persistent redness and flushing. This light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, causing them to shrink and fade over time, resulting in a more even skin tone and reduced flare-ups.

With each session, IPL can help improve skin texture, reduce breakouts, and restore a calmer, clearer complexion. If rosacea is affecting your confidence, book a consultation with us to see how IPL therapy could help you.

FAQ's

Most clients see significant improvement after 3 to 6 sessions, spaced about 4 weeks apart. However, the exact number of treatments will depend on the severity of your rosacea and how your skin responds.

IPL is generally well tolerated. Most clients describe the sensation as a mild snapping or warmth on the skin, similar to a rubber band flick. Any discomfort is brief, and we use cooling techniques to keep you comfortable.

Results can be long-lasting, but rosacea is a chronic condition, so maintenance treatments may be needed. Many clients schedule a top-up session every 6 to 12 months to keep redness and flare-ups under control.

Yes! If left untreated for a long period, rosacea—especially subtype 3 (phymatous rosacea)—can lead to Rhinophyma, a thickening of the skin, particularly on the nose. Early treatment with IPL can help reduce inflammation and prevent progression to more severe skin changes.

IPL is not only effective for rosacea but also provides additional skin benefits, including:

  • Reducing pigmentation – Helps fade sunspots, age spots, and freckles for a more even complexion.
  • Minimising redness – Targets broken capillaries and general skin redness beyond rosacea.
  • Stimulating collagen production – Improves overall skin texture, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Treating acne – IPL can help reduce active acne and improve acne scarring.
  • Improving skin tone and clarity – Creates a brighter, fresher-looking complexion.

By choosing IPL, you’re not only tackling rosacea but also boosting overall skin health and rejuvenation.
